Pakistan calls for uninterrupted humanitarian access to Gaza as civilians continue to face severe shortages of food, medicine, and essential services.
Gaza remains trapped in a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions of civilians facing hunger, food insecurity, and shortages of essential supplies, Pakistan told the United Nations Security Council.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said during an emergency Security Council meeting that continued violations of the ceasefire have intensified hardships for the civilian population in Gaza.
He highlighted that millions of people in Gaza are struggling with hunger and lack of access to adequate food, while more than one million children are facing malnutrition along with disruptions to basic needs such as healthcare and education.
Ahmad stressed that restrictions on humanitarian assistance represent a serious violation of international law and urged the international community to ensure uninterrupted aid delivery to affected civilians.
He called for the immediate reopening of all border crossings, including Rafah, to allow food, medicines, and other essential relief supplies to reach those in need.
Pakistan’s UN envoy also expressed deep concern over the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank, warning that continued developments could further worsen regional instability.
