Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty at the UN Security Council while urging restraint, diplomacy, and peaceful dialogue to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
ISLAMABAD/NEW YORK: Pakistan strongly condemned the ballistic missile attacks launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, reaffirming its unwavering support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Addressing the Security Council session convened to discuss the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Usman Jadoon, denounced the attacks and reiterated Islamabad’s firm stance against threats to Saudi Arabia’s stability.
Jadoon stated that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and strongly condemns all security threats targeting the Kingdom. He emphasized that maintaining regional peace and stability requires restraint and responsible actions by all parties.
The Pakistani diplomat also reaffirmed Pakistan’s respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity. He urged all stakeholders to avoid further escalation, exercise maximum restraint, and resolve differences through dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
Highlighting Pakistan’s long-standing position on regional conflicts, Jadoon stressed that sustainable peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through negotiations, diplomacy, and peaceful means rather than military confrontation.
