The government of Pakistan is expected to announce new petroleum prices on Friday, with adjustments likely to be made according to average global oil rates. The anticipated revision has raised concerns among citizens who fear a possible increase in fuel prices.
Speaking on the issue, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that international petroleum prices have been gradually rising in recent weeks. He also mentioned that the International Monetary Fund has released a report examining the potential economic impact of the ongoing Middle East conflict on Pakistan.
According to the finance minister, if the regional tensions continue, Pakistan could face additional pressure on its external payments and economic stability. He also warned that remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis might be affected if the conflict leads to wider economic disruptions.
Meanwhile, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik confirmed that the official decision regarding fuel prices will be announced on Friday. However, he clarified that it is still uncertain whether petrol prices will increase or decrease.
The final rates will be determined after reviewing the average international oil prices and related economic factors.
