Naval authorities warn of restricted airspace and maritime activity during scheduled test window off Karachi coast
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for a missile firing exercise to be conducted by the Pakistan Navy in the Arabian Sea, near the Karachi coastline, officials confirmed.
According to aviation and defense sources, the exercise is scheduled to take place between April 20 and April 21, 2026. The designated test area lies off the southern coast, with an estimated missile range of approximately 200 kilometers. The NOTAM serves as a precautionary advisory to both air and maritime traffic to avoid the specified zone during the operational window.
Authorities have emphasized that such exercises are routine and part of ongoing efforts to maintain operational readiness and strategic deterrence capabilities. The restricted zone will remain active for the duration of the test, and all commercial and private aircraft, as well as shipping vessels, have been instructed to steer clear of the area to ensure safety.
Defense analysts note that the timing of the exercise aligns with Pakistan’s broader naval preparedness initiatives, particularly in securing vital sea lanes and enhancing maritime defense systems in the region.
No further technical details about the missile system involved have been officially disclosed. However, officials reiterated that all necessary safety protocols are being strictly implemented throughout the exercise period.
