PTA rollout brings high-speed connectivity, but device compatibility remains key for users
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has officially confirmed the rollout of 5G services across parts of Pakistan, marking a major step in the country’s digital transformation and next-generation connectivity push.
According to the regulator, users can now access 5G speeds in selected coverage areas, provided their mobile devices support the technology. Smartphones must be 5G-enabled, and users must ensure the feature is activated through their network settings. If the 5G option does not appear, the device is not compatible.
PTA advised users to navigate to mobile network settings, enable 5G manually where available, and restart devices if connectivity issues arise. In case of persistent problems, users are encouraged to refresh network settings or contact their mobile service providers for assistance.
Officials also urged citizens to remain cautious online and protect personal data while using advanced mobile networks.
The launch is expected to significantly enhance internet speeds, reduce latency, and improve overall connectivity nationwide. Experts say 5G will support emerging technologies including smart devices, telemedicine, e-learning platforms, and digital business expansion, strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy.
