Mediation efforts intensify as conflict threatens wider regional escalation
Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt have stepped up diplomatic efforts to mediate between the United States and Iran, holding separate contacts with officials from both sides as tensions escalate, according to multiple reports including Reuters.
Officials from the three countries held separate discussions with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, aiming to de-escalate the conflict and facilitate indirect dialogue.
The mediation comes as Washington and Tehran avoid direct negotiations, relying instead on intermediaries to exchange messages. Recent developments indicate that these countries have been actively “passing messages” between both sides in an effort to reduce hostilities.
According to Reuters and other international reports, the diplomatic push coincides with a temporary pause in potential U.S. military action, with both sides signaling cautious openness to dialogue through third parties.
The situation remains volatile, but regional powers continue to press for a negotiated solution to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
