Leaders stress enhanced collaboration in trade, energy, defence and regional peace efforts
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Tuesday to reaffirm their countries’ strategic partnership and discuss key regional and global developments, an official statement said.
The leaders expressed satisfaction over the steady momentum in political, economic and institutional cooperation, underscoring the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir attended the meeting along with senior officials.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, energy, defence, manpower and cultural exchanges. Both sides agreed to fast-track collaboration through the establishment of a joint task force.
The two leaders emphasized the implementation of decisions taken under recent high-level engagements, including the Joint Ministerial Commission and bilateral political consultations.
Regional developments, particularly the situation in Gaza and broader Gulf security issues, were also reviewed. Sharif commended Qatar’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation, while both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful dispute resolution in line with international law and the United Nations Charter.
