Authorities intensify province-wide sampling drive as lab tests confirm milk adulteration in Murree
MURREE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has taken strict action against the sale of adulterated milk in Murree, sealing a milk shop located on Phagwari Road after laboratory tests confirmed contamination, officials said.
According to a spokesperson for the authority, milk samples were collected from the shop during a routine inspection and sent to a laboratory for analysis. The samples later failed quality tests due to the presence of adulterants, prompting immediate legal action.
Following confirmation of adulteration, a case was registered against the shop owner. Authorities also shut down the premises on the spot and discarded approximately 50 liters of contaminated milk to prevent public consumption.
Officials stated that the crackdown is part of an ongoing campaign across the province aimed at ensuring food safety and eliminating substandard and hazardous products from the market.
The Punjab Food Authority has urged citizens to report any complaints related to food quality by contacting its helpline at 1223, emphasizing public cooperation in maintaining health standards.
