KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has rejected reports circulating on social media claiming that the Rs10 banknote is being withdrawn from circulation or that a deadline has been set for exchanging the denomination.
The central bank clarified that no decision has been taken to discontinue or replace any denomination of Pakistani currency.
The SBP categorically dismissed the reports concerning the Rs10 note, describing claims about its alleged withdrawal and an exchange deadline as false and misleading.
The clarification comes as unverified information about changes to Pakistan’s currency system continues to circulate on social media. The reports had raised questions among members of the public about the status of the Rs10 banknote and whether holders would be required to exchange it within a specified period.
The State Bank urged the public to rely on official announcements and information issued through its authorized channels for updates concerning Pakistani banknotes and other currency-related decisions.
The central bank’s clarification makes clear that there is currently no announced decision to withdraw or replace the Rs10 note, nor is there an exchange deadline for the denomination based on the claims circulating on social media.
