QUETTA: At least six people were killed in a firing incident in Panjgur District officials said on Sunday. According to acting SP Panjgur Amir Jan the attack occurred in the Dastak area of Chidgi located about 60 kilometres from Panjgur city.
Police said unidentified armed assailants opened fire, resulting in six fatalities. The attackers also set two vehicles ablaze before fleeing the scene. Authorities confirmed that a search operation has been launched to trace the suspects.
Law enforcement officials stated that an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack. Security in the surrounding areas has been heightened, and checkpoints have been established to assist in the pursuit of the assailants.
Police sources added that two of the deceased have been identified as Daud and Salim residents of the border village of Nakar. Efforts are ongoing to confirm the identities of the remaining victims.
Officials reiterated that security forces are actively conducting sweeps in nearbyregions
to ensure no further threats remain. Such incidents underscore ongoing security challenges in parts of Balochistan where authorities continue counter crime and counter-militancy efforts.
