A laborer trapped in a marble mine in Mardan has been rescued alive after 17 days, in what rescuers are calling a remarkable survival.
The worker, identified as Abdul Wahab, was pulled out from the mine in the Nang Abad area of Mardan today after an intensive rescue operation.
The incident occurred on March 31 in Nang Abad, located in Rustam tehsil of Mardan district, when a sudden landslide during marble mining caused a massive collapse. Several workers were buried under debris and heavy rocks as a result.
Following the incident, rescue teams recovered the bodies of eight workers, while two others were initially rescued alive.
According to rescue officials, continuous efforts led to the successful recovery of Abdul Wahab after 17 days under the rubble. His survival has been described as extraordinary, highlighting both his resilience and the dedication of rescue teams who worked tirelessly to save him.
