WhatsApp is testing a third-account option for iPhone users, allowing multiple phone numbers to be managed separately within the same app.
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that could allow iPhone users to manage up to three accounts within the same app, giving people with multiple phone numbers more flexibility.
The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 26.37.10.15 through TestFlight, according to WABetaInfo. It remains under development and is not currently available to beta testers.
WhatsApp introduced multi-account support on iPhone with the iOS 26.22.76 update, allowing users to add a second account without logging out of their primary account. Each account operates independently, with separate chats, notifications, backups and settings.
The planned expansion would extend the existing system to a third account.
Each account would continue to maintain its own chat history, notifications, privacy settings, backups and media. Notifications would also indicate which account received a new message, helping users distinguish between activity across multiple profiles.
WhatsApp’s App Lock feature would also operate separately for each account, allowing users to protect individual profiles using their respective authentication settings.
Once the feature is released, users are expected to be able to add a third account through WhatsApp’s settings. The Account List would display the accounts already added to the device, with an option to add another phone number after two accounts have been configured.
The feature could also be accessed through the “Switch accounts” option. The interface is expected to show each account’s name, profile picture and phone number, while a green checkmark would identify the account currently in use.
Three-account support could be particularly useful for people who manage separate phone numbers for personal and professional communication or other purposes. Instead of carrying another device or relying on WhatsApp Business for an additional account, users could potentially keep three profiles within the same application.
However, the feature has not yet been released to beta testers, and WhatsApp has not announced a public rollout date. Its design and functionality could change during development before it becomes available more widely.
WABetaInfo has also indicated that WhatsApp could potentially raise the account limit beyond three in the future, although there is currently no official confirmation from WhatsApp about such an expansion.
Meta-owned WhatsApp users will therefore have to wait for a future iOS update for confirmation of when three-account support will become available.
