Why Did PTI Suddenly Form a Powerful Six-Member Committee in KP? The Real Story Behind Growing Tensions

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has established a six-member committee in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid reports of growing internal differences within the party, aiming to improve coordination and address organizational challenges in the province.

According to an official statement, the committee will be headed by Asad Qaiser and includes Babar Saleem Swati, Ali Asghar Khan, Meena Khan, Akbar Ayub and Atif Khan.

The newly formed body has been tasked with strengthening communication between the PTI parliamentary party and the provincial government. Party officials said the committee will help bridge gaps, resolve concerns and ensure smoother coordination on policy and political matters.

The statement further noted that the committee will serve as a consultative forum involving Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the provincial party president and the leadership of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain. The initiative is being viewed as an effort to improve internal cohesion and streamline decision-making within the party.

The development comes after a recent PTI parliamentary party meeting in Peshawar highlighted signs of internal dissatisfaction. Sources said more than 30 lawmakers were absent from the session, which was chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

All 92 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had been invited to attend the meeting. However, according to sources, 11 lawmakers had formally excused themselves due to prior commitments, while more than 20 reportedly disgruntled members chose not to participate.

Party insiders suggested that the significant number of absences reflected ongoing tensions within PTI’s provincial ranks. The formation of the six-member coordination committee is therefore being seen as a strategic move to address grievances, enhance communication and maintain unity within the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.

Political observers say the effectiveness of the committee will be closely watched in the coming weeks, as PTI seeks to manage internal challenges while maintaining stability in the province’s political landscape.
