Pakistani actress Namra Shahid says strong storytelling, screen presentation, and charisma—not aggression—are the real reasons audiences connect with popular male drama characters.
Pakistani actress Namra Shahid has opened up about why certain male characters in television dramas leave a lasting impact on viewers, particularly women, highlighting the powerful role of storytelling and on-screen presentation.
Speaking during a recent digital talk show appearance, Namra discussed audience preferences, celebrity crushes, and the growing popularity of intense male protagonists in Pakistani dramas. Addressing a question about why aggressive or strong-willed male characters often attract female audiences, she argued that viewers are drawn more to charisma and presentation than to aggression itself.
The actress pointed to Bilal Abbas Khan and Danish Taimoor as examples of performers whose natural screen presence allows audiences to connect with their characters across a variety of roles, whether romantic, emotional, or authoritative.
According to Namra, television productions frequently elevate male protagonists through cinematic storytelling techniques. Emotional background scores, stylish wardrobes, dramatic scenes, and visually appealing cinematography help create larger-than-life characters that viewers find memorable and appealing.
She explained that when an attractive actor is portrayed as caring, emotionally vulnerable, or deeply devoted, audiences become invested not only in the storyline but also in the character’s personality. This combination of performance and presentation, she said, significantly influences audience perceptions.
Namra also praised Danish Taimoor and Bilal Abbas for their consistent ability to captivate viewers and maintain popularity across different age groups. She revealed that she hopes to work with Danish Taimoor in the future, describing him as a talented actor with a strong fan base both in Pakistan and abroad.
