Pakistan Announces Eid al-Fitr on March 21 After No Shawwal Moon Sighting

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the Shawwal moon was not sighted anywhere in the country. Therefore, Friday will be the 30th fast of Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

The meeting of the committee was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, with participation from officials of the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO.

Zonal committee meetings were also held across major cities. Although some testimonies were received in Peshawar, they were not deemed valid under Shariah standards. Officials confirmed no credible moon sighting evidence was received nationwide.
