Born in 1928, Edhi devoted his life to helping the poor, vulnerable and marginalized. What began as a modest dispensary evolved into the Edhi Foundation, now recognized as one of the world’s largest volunteer-run welfare organizations. The foundation operates an extensive network of ambulance services, orphanages, shelters, maternity homes, rehabilitation centers and free healthcare facilities across Pakistan.
Widely known as the “Man of Humanity,” Edhi never discriminated on the basis of religion, ethnicity or social status. Whether assisting abandoned children, accident victims, homeless individuals or communities affected by natural disasters, his mission remained unwavering: to serve anyone in need.
Despite leading one of Pakistan’s largest charitable organizations, Edhi lived an exceptionally modest life, dedicating every available resource to humanitarian work. His simplicity and integrity earned him respect both at home and internationally.
