Beijing backs dialogue over force, highlighting Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence in the Middle East
ISLAMABAD: China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, on Tuesday praised Islamabad’s growing role as a mediator in the Middle East, calling its diplomatic efforts “commendable” amid escalating regional tensions.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the envoy underscored Beijing’s long-standing position that disputes should be resolved through dialogue rather than force. He noted that Pakistan has played a constructive role in promoting peaceful engagement among conflicting parties in the region.
“China supports political solutions and opposes unilateral actions and power politics,” Jiang said, adding that stability in the Middle East is essential for global peace and economic security.
The ambassador reiterated China’s firm stance against the use of force, particularly targeting non-military sites. He also stressed the importance of safeguarding critical maritime routes, warning that disruptions could have far-reaching consequences for international trade.
Jiang emphasized that international law must not be subordinated to domestic legal frameworks, urging all nations to uphold globally recognized legal principles.
Highlighting Beijing’s diplomatic outreach, he said China will continue mediation efforts until a peaceful resolution to ongoing conflicts is achieved.
Analysts say Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy and close ties with multiple regional stakeholders have positioned it as a credible intermediary, a role increasingly recognized by global powers such as China.
