Islamabad: The Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad conducted a special checkpoint operation in Tarlai Kalan, within the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town Police Station, to verify vehicle registration documents, token tax payments, and inspection compliance. The operation was supervised by Excise Inspector Imran Khattak and involved active participation from departmental officials.
During the campaign, authorities stopped multiple vehicles and examined registration certificates, proof of token tax payment, ownership records, and vehicle fitness documentation. Officials also used the opportunity to educate motorists about traffic and excise regulations, while drivers carrying incomplete documentation were issued necessary instructions and warnings.
Speaking to the media, Excise Inspector Imran Khattak said the primary objective of such operations is to encourage compliance with the law and ensure effective action against unregistered and tax-defaulting vehicles. He noted that maintaining accurate vehicle records not only increases government revenue but also assists law enforcement agencies in identifying suspicious vehicles and preventing criminal activity.
Khattak urged vehicle owners to keep registration documents, token tax receipts, and other required records readily available at all times. He also emphasized the importance of timely vehicle inspections, warning that negligence in fulfilling legal obligations could result in legal action.
The Excise and Taxation Department announced that similar inspection drives will continue across various parts of Islamabad to strengthen the tax system, improve regulatory compliance, and take action against violators. Citizens have been encouraged to maintain complete vehicle documentation and fulfill all legal requirements to demonstrate responsible citizenship.
