Islamabad’s Business Hours Extended, What the New Timings Mean for Shoppers and Traders

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

New timings allow shopping malls, wedding halls and restaurants to remain open longer following a decision taken during a high-level austerity meeting.

ISLAMABAD: In a significant move aimed at balancing economic activity with administrative efficiency, the federal government has approved an extension in operating hours for shops and commercial centers across Islamabad, providing relief to businesses and greater convenience for consumers.

The decision was taken during a meeting on austerity measures chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting reviewed existing restrictions and considered proposals regarding commercial operating hours in the federal capital.

Under the revised schedule, shops and shopping malls in Islamabad will now be allowed to remain open until 9:00pm. The move is expected to facilitate shoppers who previously faced limited evening business hours and to support commercial activity in the city.

The government has also extended operating hours for wedding halls, permitting them to continue their functions until 10:00pm. The adjustment is expected to provide greater flexibility for event organizers and families hosting wedding ceremonies.

Restaurants have received the most extensive relaxation under the new policy. According to the decision, restaurants across the capital will now be permitted to operate until 11:00pm, allowing businesses to serve customers for longer periods and potentially boost revenue in the hospitality sector.

The revision comes amid ongoing discussions about energy conservation and economic management. Authorities believe the updated schedule will strike a balance between maintaining efficiency measures and supporting commercial growth in Islamabad.

Business owners and traders are expected to welcome the decision, which could increase customer footfall during evening hours while offering residents additional time for shopping, dining and social activities.
