Iran has reportedly rejected recent US backed proposals describing them as inappropriate after reviewing the terms. Iranian officials stated that Tehran cannot accept any external authority, including former US President Donald Trump setting timelines for ending the conflict. Instead Iran conveyed through a regional intermediary that it will continue its defensive operations.
According to officials the primary condition for any ceasefire is the cessation of attacks and an end to the targeting of Iranian officials. Iran insists that its defensive actions will continue until its demands are met. Tehran emphasized that any decision regarding a ceasefire will be based solely on its own terms, including firm guarantees to prevent the resumption of hostilities. Iran is also demanding compensation and assessment of damages caused during the conflict.
Iranian authorities further stated that the ongoing war along with operations against regional allied groups, must be halted. They also called for recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. A senior Iranian official confirmed that Iran’s initial response has been delivered to the United States through Pakistan as a mediator.
These developments come amid reports of a US proposal consisting of 15 points, which reportedly includes sanctions relief alongside demands to halt Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, monitor compliance via the International Atomic Energy Agency and ensure broader regional security arrangements.
