Russia has delivered 313 tonnes of medical supplies to Iran and evacuated 163 Russian specialists from the Bushehr nuclear power plant amid escalating geopolitical tensions, according to state media reports.
The humanitarian shipment was carried out by Russia’s Emergencies Ministry, providing essential medicines as part of ongoing support efforts. In a separate operation, Russian personnel working at the Bushehr facility were evacuated and are expected to travel through Armenia.
These developments come during heightened tensions linked to the ongoing conflict between United States and Iran, which has impacted global diplomacy and energy markets.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia remains a reliable guarantor of energy security, rejecting claims that Moscow might restrict oil supplies via key pipelines as leverage. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized U.S. involvement in the Middle East, reaffirming Russia’s stance of supporting regional stability.
The situation continues to evolve as European and U.S. officials engage in discussions over security concerns, reflecting broader tensions in international relations.
