NCCIA Cracks Down in Punjab: 3 Arrested Over Alleged Cyber Harassment and Blackmail

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

NCCIA teams conducted separate operations in Lahore, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan over allegations involving online harassment, threats, blackmail and misuse of personal data.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three men in separate operations across Punjab over alleged involvement in online harassment, blackmail, threats and the misuse of personal data, officials said Tuesday.

The operations were conducted in Lahore, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan on the directions of NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Wasim.

In Lahore, officials arrested Azeem Jafri, a Faisalabad resident, following a complaint alleging online harassment and defamation. Investigators said he had allegedly used online platforms to harass and defame complainant Syed Muzaffar Iqbal Zehrazai. A mobile phone was recovered during the operation. The case is being investigated by Sub-Inspector Rai Shakeel Ahmed.

In Multan, NCCIA teams arrested Jamshed Mahmood Khan from Gulgasht Gol Bagh Park. Investigators alleged that he shared objectionable material involving a woman through WhatsApp and subsequently threatened and blackmailed her. Officials said no recovery was made from the suspect.

In a separate operation in Dera Ghazi Khan, officials arrested Sajjad Sarwar over similar allegations. Investigators said he had allegedly shared objectionable data of a woman through WhatsApp, threatened her and attempted to blackmail her. A mobile phone containing WhatsApp-related material was recovered.

Muhammad Ali Wasim said the agency would continue action against the misuse of cyberspace for harassment, blackmail, threats and privacy violations. He also directed teams to strengthen investigations and enforcement to protect citizens’ digital rights.
