District Police Officer Ahmed Shah reviewed security arrangements, ordered maximum vigilance, and emphasized both public safety and the welfare of officers deployed for Ashura duties.
Nowshera: District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmed Shah conducted a comprehensive inspection of the routes designated for the 10th Muharram mourning processions, reaffirming the district police’s commitment to ensuring peaceful Ashura observances through extensive security measures.
During the visit, the DPO reviewed a security plan involving more than 1,100 police officers and personnel. He directed all officers on duty to remain on high alert, warning that no security lapse would be tolerated during the religious processions.
According to the security plan, Nowshera Cantonment has been completely sealed due to its sensitivity, with strict checkpoints established at all entry and exit points. Special patrol units, rider squads, women police officers, plainclothes personnel, and traffic police have also been deployed along procession routes and surrounding streets.
To strengthen surveillance, boat patrols have been activated on the Kabul River, rooftop security teams have been stationed on high-rise buildings, and drone monitoring and CCTV surveillance are operating throughout the district. A special control room has also been established at Police Lines to monitor processions and religious gatherings in real time.
Ahmed Shah also instructed the DSP Headquarters to ensure quality meals and an adequate supply of cold drinks for officers performing duties in extreme heat. He stated that the welfare of police personnel remains a top priority, describing them as the pride of the force.
