A dangerous heatwave is set to grip Pakistan starting June 7, with authorities warning of extreme and potentially life-threatening temperatures across multiple regions as weather conditions intensify sharply.
According to meteorological officials, Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience significantly above-normal temperatures. Coastal Karachi is expected to record 40°C to 43°C, with high humidity making conditions feel even more severe.
In inland areas of Sindh and Balochistan, temperatures may soar as high as 51°C, placing immense stress on public health systems. Punjab is forecast to face 44°C to 48°C, while KP plains may also see intense heat reaching 46°C, raising concerns over dehydration and heatstroke cases.
Experts link the surge to a persistent high-pressure system that is preventing cloud formation and accelerating surface heating. The heatwave is also expected to strain water supplies, electricity demand, and agricultural productivity across vulnerable regions.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid outdoor exposure during peak hours, stay hydrated, and follow safety guidelines, while provincial administrations have been instructed to maintain emergency readiness.
