Meteorologists have warned that a powerful storm system is moving toward Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region bringing the risk of heavy rainfall strong winds and dust storms. Authorities expect weather conditions to deteriorate significantly by the end of the week with several areas likely to be affected by intense rain.
According to forecasts, wind speeds could reach up to 60 km/h in some regions, particularly on Thursday and in the coming days. The Saudi National Center for Meteorology has also cautioned that visibility may be reduced and coastal areas could experience high waves. Wave heights along the coast may exceed 2.5 meters, posing risks to maritime activities.
In the United Arab Emirates, torrential rains have raised concerns about water entering residential areas. Residents have reportedly taken precautionary measures such as using sandbags and plastic sheets to protect their homes from potential flooding.
Meanwhile the UAE’s religious authority has advised citizens to perform prayers at home during severe weather conditions to ensure public safety and minimize unnecessary travel. Mosque imams have been instructed to announce this guidance after the call to prayer in affected areas.
Additionally authorities have recommended combining certain prayers during extreme conditions, including Dhuhr with Asr and Maghrib with Isha, reflecting flexible measures to accommodate public safety during adverse weather.
