SARGODHA: An incident at the District Teaching Hospital in Sargodha has sparked public concern after a rickshaw driver, who had reportedly brought a patient to the hospital, was allegedly subjected to physical assault by security guards deployed at the facility.
According to eyewitness accounts, the driver arrived at the hospital while transporting a patient for medical treatment. During the incident, women accompanying the patient reportedly pleaded with the guards to stop, but their requests were allegedly ignored as the situation escalated.
Witnesses claimed that the security personnel, employed by a private security company contracted to provide services at the hospital, behaved aggressively toward the driver. The incident attracted the attention of bystanders and raised questions about the conduct of private security staff at public healthcare facilities.
Local residents expressed anger over the alleged treatment of the rickshaw driver, claiming that complaints regarding harsh behavior and mistreatment of visitors by security guards have surfaced on multiple occasions. Citizens argued that such incidents undermine public trust and create fear among people seeking medical assistance at government hospitals.
Following the latest allegations, residents called on the provincial government and relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against those found responsible. They also demanded a review of the private security company’s contract, urging officials to ensure that patients and their attendants are treated with dignity and respect.
The incident has renewed debate over security management at public hospitals and the need for stronger oversight to prevent misconduct and safeguard the rights of citizens.
