Turkish defence officials praised Pakistan’s disaster management capabilities during a visit to NDMA headquarters, as both countries pledged to enhance cooperation in emergency response, preparedness, and humanitarian assistance.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s disaster management framework received international recognition on Wednesday as a Turkish defence delegation visited the headquarters of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in Islamabad and praised the country’s modern emergency response systems and preparedness mechanisms.
During the visit, NDMA officials provided a comprehensive briefing on disaster risk reduction strategies, early warning systems, and the operational capabilities of the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC). The delegation was informed about the use of advanced technology for real-time coordination, monitoring, and rapid response during emergencies.
Chairman NDMA Inam Haider emphasized the importance of data-driven planning and timely alerts in reducing the impact of natural and human-induced disasters. He highlighted that effective preparedness and international cooperation remain essential for protecting lives, infrastructure, and communities.
The discussions also focused on expanding bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye in disaster management, search and rescue operations, humanitarian assistance, and institutional capacity building. Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration through the exchange of expertise, training programs, and best practices in emergency response.
Members of the Turkish delegation commended the efficiency of the National Emergency Operations Centre and appreciated the coordinated disaster response structure developed by Pakistan. They also expressed their commitment to enhancing practical cooperation with Pakistani institutions in future preparedness and resilience initiatives.
