Cold Wave Intensifies: Rain in Punjab, Snowfall in Northern Areas

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A new westerly weather system has entered Pakistan, bringing rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall to several parts of the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

Rain is expected over the next few days in major cities across Punjab, including Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala, which is likely to lower temperatures and create colder conditions.

The PMD forecast heavy snowfall in northern mountainous areas, including Murree, Galiyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kalam. Authorities have advised tourists and residents to exercise caution due to the risk of landslides and road closures.

In Balochistan, another weather system is expected to enter on Jan. 19, bringing rain, hail, and snowfall to areas such as Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, and Qila Abdullah. Snowfall is likely in Quetta and Ziarat between Jan. 21 and 23, along with a sharp drop in temperatures across northern and central districts.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive intermittent rain, gusty winds, and light to moderate snowfall through Jan. 19.

The PMD urged residents, travelers, and relevant authorities to remain alert and monitor weather updates.
